Training Fighter Jet - A jet trainer is a jet aircraft intended for use as a training aircraft for basic flight training or advanced flight training. A jet trainer is a custom design or modification of an existing aircraft. With the introduction of military jets for World War II, it became necessary to train pilots to handle such aircraft.
The first trainers in the 1940s were modified from existing designs such as the Gloster Meteor and Lockheed T-33, followed by custom trainers such as the Aero L-29 Delphine and the BAC Jet Provost.

As training evolved, the Air Force used jet trainers in various stages of training. Most air forces used piston or later turboprop aircraft for basic training, but many jet trainers such as the Cessna T-37 Tweeter appeared early in pilot training. Pilots who chose to fly fighters and fighter jets are now flying more advanced training aircraft such as the Hawker Siddeley Nutt.

As the original jet trainers became obsolete and more generations arrived, the British used single-engine BAE Systems Hawks and the French ordered Dassault/Dornier Alpha Jets. At the Warsaw Pact, the Aero L-39 Albatros became the standard jet trainer.
When jet trainers were developed, they were also used for weapons training and some trainers were modified as light attack aircraft. For example, the Cessna T-37 Tweet evolved into the Cessna A-37 Dragonfly.
